Every year Armenia is celebrating Areni Wine Festival. Armenia is one of the oldest civilizations which started the production of wine, so as the time passes, the wine becomes tastier.

Areni Wine Festival is a great way to enjoy the best wine not only of Armenia but also of the whole world.

Armenian wine production passed over the centuries. The first writings about it can be found by Herodotus and Strabo. When in 401–400 BC Greek armies rode along Armenia, they were offered Armenian wine, which they liked too much. Armenian wine has always been kept in “karas” (special clay pots).
The oldest Areni winery in Armenia
A 6100-year-old winery was found in the cave in Armenian Areni village in 2007. It is considered to be the oldest winery in the world, even older than the winery found in Judea and Samaria in 1963. By the way, in 2008 world’s ancient shoe was found in this cave.
